We are passionate about providing the support required by all our young people so that they can realise their potential. We understand that each of our pupils has a unique profile and as such requires a unique approach.
The student experience at Roman Fields includes a diverse range of curricula, extracurricular activities and opportunities to bond as a community.
Young People from Hertfordshire are referred to Roman Fields through the Local Authority.
Roman Fields considers each individual Education, Health and Care Plan prior to a young person starting. This enables the school to plan an appropriate transition in partnership with parents.
We plan every young person’s learning and development individually and offer a broad and balanced curriculum which is adapted to suit individual learning needs according to our young people’s talents and interests. Self-esteem is built up through the celebration of the young person’s successes
At Roman Fields, our young people receive excellent support from the SENDCo as well as from a team of experienced and well trained staff. Regular training from outside professionals coupled with in house training and development ensures that staff keep up to date with developments in relation to supporting young people with complex needs. Alongside this we have a strong emphasis on a multi-agency approach, working together with outside agencies such as Speech and language, Occupational Therapy, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service, Tavistock, attendance team, Social Care and Voluntary Organisations. We have 2 qualified Social workers who work with our students to promote independent life skills and social skills. They also provide parent networking support work each half term. Our Counsellor and Therapist also provide support for those young people who require it.

‘Roman Fields is an extremely calm and supportive school. Teachers’ individual knowledge of each pupil means that they are able to adapt learning situations to enable all pupils to access their full potential. The bespoke package of teaching, with highly skilled teachers, enables pupils to make strong progress in their learning and to develop skills in a range of areas.’
‘Ofsted online surveys, Parent View, were all very complimentary. In the words of one parent: ‘the school has not only been the best possible place for my son, it has had a massively positive impact on our entire family and quality of life’
