Our Performance
Outcomes
"Assessment on entry to the school is thorough. Gaps in pupils’ knowledge are filled rapidly to enable success in external examinations." ... "Pupils’ progress towards their academic and personal targets is planned in detail and regularly reviewed. As a result, each individual makes the progress of which they are capable in every aspect of their development." - Ofsted
Roman Fields prides itself on delivering outstanding outcomes for the pupils who attend. Our GCSE results are both the source and reflection of this pride. Below is a table showing results from the last four years.

Context: We are at a disadvantage in regard to Attainment 8 figures due to the length of time our pupils are with us and the number of subjects they can therefore access, particularly in consideration of the long abstractions from education that the have typically suffered. However, the figures do help us to demonstrate and interrogate the ever-widening breadth of education we attempt to deliver for our pupils, and their attainment therein. This same disadvantage applies to an extent in regard to “5 GCSEs” measures, but the above figures demonstrate the effectiveness of our efforts to make sure the disadvantage does not translate to pupil attainment and outcomes.
"Outstanding teaching and highly effective individualised support results in all pupils learning exceptionally well." - Ofsted 2019
" These records show outstanding progress across all year groups and subjects." - Ofsted 2019
These results would not be possible without the outstanding progress made by our pupils. Many of our pupils come to the provision with significant gaps in their knowledge and lengthy abstractions from adequate education. It is therefore vital that we ensure rapid progress. Detailed below is our progress data from English and Maths, the core subjects that we believe underpin the rest of our success.
English | 2019/20 | 2020/21 | 2021/22 |

We did a comparative year-on-year analysis of entries and results in Science because our focus continues to be on widening educational opportunities and outcomes to ever more pupils. Science is a particularly challenging subject in our school context because it relies upon a large pool of knowledge that is accumulated throughout a pupil’s entire school life. Our pupils tend to have extensive gaps in their learning and thus finding and filling these, whilst simultaneously building upon such prior learning that there is, can be very challenging. We are therefore especially proud of the growing number of pupils studying and succeeding in GCSE Science. We also had one pupil who sat a single GCSE in Biology and achieved a 5. If we included this in the figure it would be 68%.
