Queen Elizabeth ll has died aged 96
Fri 09 Sep 2022The Queen has died aged 96, Buckingham Palace has announced. The Queen's death ends the longest reign in British history. She was also the world's oldest head of state. On her death, the Queen's eldest son and heir, Charles, the former Prince of Wales, has become King of the United Kingdom and 14 Commonwealth realms. It is anticipated that the Queen will be given a full state funeral, as is traditional to mark the death of a monarch. It is also expected that her body will lie in state to allow the public to pay tribute.
The James Marks Academy community are saddened to hear about the death of the Queen, she was a very honourable person, who put serving others before her own interests. We would like to share our condolences and best wishes with the Royal Family at this time.

Jubilee Lunch
Fri 24 Jun 2022At lunch time on the 24th June we held our Jubilee picnic for pupils and staff which was full of sandwiches, fruit platters and cakes, and lots of other yummy food. We encouraged staff and pupils to bring in items to share, so that pupils and staff could try new dishes.
We would like to thank the staff responsible for organising and setting this up, as a lot of time and effort has gone into this to support pupil and staff wellbeing.
On the Jubilee theme, the Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC) is a unique tree-planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022. The initiative invites people from across the United Kingdom to “Plant a Tree for the Jubilee”. We will be participating in this, but will not receive our tree until November time due to planting seasons.

Character Development Day
Wed 23 Mar 2022On Character Development Days pupils and staff take part in team-based activities designed to focus on improving resilience, organisation skills, and working with others. The most recent day was a Murder Mystery wherein teams of pupils tried to solve a crime that had been staged on site. The teams then investigated a crime scene; carried out forensic analysis; checked bank records, and interviewed suspects (played by staff who transformed themselves into criminal masterminds). The level of detective work and analysis on display was really impressive, and by all accounts the day was a great success. Thank you to Mark Reynolds for organising.
